Mythos Chain
blockchainGoinfrastructurenode ops
Draft — my notes. Edit before publishing.
Context
The Mythical ecosystem needed a chain tuned for game assets rather than a general-purpose L1 with someone else’s fee market and operational quirks.
The problem
Launching a chain is the easy half; operating one under live game traffic without an outage is the hard half — and the long tail (indexers, bundlers, integrations) all assumed a specific provider’s behavior.
Approach
- Stand up the in-house stack in parallel, serving no traffic but required to agree with production.
- Shadow real RPC traffic and diff responses for days — boring correctness, not one-shot correctness.
- Cut over at the load-balancer edge with instant rollback; by 100% in-house nothing observable had happened.
Outcome
Mythos Chain powers online functionality for NFL Rivals, Nitro Nation, and Blankos — migrated to fully in-house operation with no service downtime, and I educated DevOps on efficient node operations.
